Missing My Extended Family (a poem about work)

Missing My Extended Family

I miss those that I consider extended family,
those would be the Soldiers & their Families,
of the Metro North Recruiting Company.

I miss answering the phone,
“Metro North, Jennifer Speaking”,
and hearing the voice of a flustered Soldier on the other end.

I miss breaking the ice and talking about
their children and spouses,
then hearing the Soldier get cheerful instead.

I miss having the Soldiers make me laugh,
whether with their emails or cynical comedy,
that was always sure to turn my mood around.

I miss the hugs given to me by the Soldiers,
and yes, I even miss being picked on as well,
about being a Navy Squid!

I miss them all so very much,
I just hope that they understand
exactly why I am not there.

Fore they say that “sticks & stones break bones”,
well for this time around,
words actually did hurt me.
I am working on improving myself,
so that I can return,
and give you each 110%!

For if any of the Soldiers or Family members should read this,
please know that I miss you all dearly
and don’t be a stranger!
Know that you may call me at any time,
I’d love to hear from you-

As it would make my recovery time easier and quicker!

I love and miss you all so very much,
please know that I still will always care about you all no matter what!
