Book Review: Benny & Shrimp

Well recently I was contacted by Katarina Mazetti to review her lastest and greast book out called "Benny & Shrimp". I gladly accepted the offer.

Last week after long anticipation for the book to arrive the book arrived. I was amazed! It arrived so quickly to my mailbox. The other thing that amazed me is that this book was so easy for me to throw into my purse (which I don't carry a suitcase size one, LOL). It wasn't small, yet wasn't so big and bulky that I couldn't take it with me.

About the Author:

Katarina Mazetti was nominated for the Prix Cevennes in France 2007 and has worked as a journalist, teacher, and author of books for readers of all ages. For twenty years she lived on a small farm in Northern Sweden, an experience that became the basis for "Benny & Shrimp", her first adult novel, which was adapted into an award winning film in Sweden (which won the Swedish equivalent of the Oscars).

About the Book:

This was a book of love and romance, much unlike many love and romance books that are found at your local convienence or retail stores or super markets. Instead here is a book that asks the question of "why is it so hard to get a relationship to work between two middle aged misfits?".

That is where you find Shrimp who is a widowed librarian and Benny who is an overworker farmer, both driven by the loudly ticking biological clocks and to not die alone is what brings these two together. Yet, there are plenty of differences that could drive them apart.

My review:

Without giving away too much of the book (why? because I really want you to go out and read this one, its a must read for everyone!), I have to say I give this 4 out of 5 stars on the Jennifer Scale. That is a hard one to come by, as I am a little tougher on romance novels because many seem to be so out there that its almost difficult to read because of the unfathomed love and lust scenes that take place. This book is not a romance novel like that. This book is like the love that you would find right in your neighborhood today.

So go out and look this book up! Remember its "Benny & Shrimp" By Katarina Mazetti

Well hello everyone!

When you think of self esteem what do you think of?

When you are thinking that your self esteem is low, what do you do to build it back up?

How would you rate your self esteem (1 being low to none and 10 being walking on cloud nine)?

Do you think that self esteem is the same thing as self confidence? Why or Why Not?

These were just a few of the questions that popped up in my head for the random Tuesday thought process. I would love to know what everyone else thinks.

Writing in Journals

Sorry to my fellow followers and stopper by's!

I have been finding myself more lately writing in my journal than being on the computer. (plus its a lot safer to write there some of the things that I need to get off of my chest than in such a public way as on the internet).

So, how many of you all write in a good ole fashion paper journal? Where is your favorite place to buy your journal? Or are you crafty and make your own?

Share with me please, because I am just so tired of the bland and boring look of the dull ones that you find at the stores! Maybe I need to head over to etsy and see what they have going on in that department.....

Aloha Friday!

Well, this is my first Aloha Friday post. I have read quite a few in the past and they all seem very light hearted. So I feel with keeping with that spirit I will continue to keep this light hearted.

This has been a very rough week for me personally. I am going through a lot right now, and just now trying to learn methods of coping with the issues at hand. Its scary to not be in control over parts of your life and having to allow someone else, more or less a stranger, in your life to do that for you. I was never one to ever want to seek help with counseling, but now in my life, I have to do just that. Its really not as bad as what you think that it is. And just because you go to counseling doesn't mean you are a freak, screw ball or anything along those lines. Really I personally feel now, that it means strength. Why? Because it took a lot of courage to admit that you needed outside help.

Here's to hoping that this weekend will be relaxing for all, both mentally and physically!
